What else is going on?

Being one of the stars of Denim Dream’s AW18 campaign has led me to many different challenges. For example on Wednesday (03.10) Ott, Liza & I are going to do a Facebook LIVE on Denim Dream’s page. It is going to be the first time for me and to be honest I’m a little afraid & anxious about it. But coming out of comfort zone is what helps you grow, right? So tune in ~12:00! I’m counting on your support, loves!

Wings are meant for flying, right? Next week I’ll be on my way to NYC with my bestie! I just looked up on Facebook that the last time we travelled together was 4 years ago when we went to Nepal. So it’s about time to have a proper friendcation!

At the end of the month I’ll be travelling with my other two besties – my mom & my sister! …and we’ll be heading to Paris!

How I edit my Instagram photos

In this post I’ll be sharing with you guys my favorite tips to edit Instagram photos. So, if you feel like you need a little guidance, here are some supereasy tricks to make your Instashots stand out!

First of all, many of you have asked me what camera I use and the truth is that 97% of my Instagram pictures are taken with iPhone X. I do have several professional cameras, I just don’t use them much. I really-really like iPhone’s camera & the pictures that are taken with it!

The applications that I’ll be talking about: VSCO, Facetune, LD (Lens Distortion) & Afterlight. I know that a lot of bloggers are using Lightroom but I prefer VSCO just because I’m used to it. Also, when it comes to posting on Instagram my favorite application is definitely UNUM. You can just drag your pictures around and see how your feed will look like. It is such a lifesaver if you’re a content creator.

If you are reading this post on a smartphone, I suggest you to click on the picture to see the difference of the filters and edits. Better yet, try reading it on your laptop.

So, without further ado, let’s start editing!

1. Chromatic filter w/ Facetune:

Such an easy way to create something different!

Edit51
Edit52

Facetune > Filters > Lens > Chromatic et voilà!

2. Teeth whitening w/ Facetune:

You like your picture, you like your edit but it doesn’t look clean enough. Try using Facetune’s “teeth whitening” tool on your yellowish white areas. It can make suuuch a big difference!

3. Highlights w/ VSCO:

I like a lot of details & background noise on my pictures, so I use VSCO “Highlights” to enhance that. Especially if there is a sunset/cloud-situation going on.

4. Grain w/ VSCO:

If there’s a lot of skin on my picture, I like to use “Grain” from VSCO. I just feel like it makes the picture complete + it adds this edgy feel to it!

5. Lens Distortion:

Sometimes you look at your picture and it’s good but it’s not great. There’s something missing. Try adding a flare to your picture and create a fake sunshine, sunset, rain or fog!

6. VSCO filters:

I know it is good for the aesthetics of your feed to use the same filter all the time. But I don’t do that. I usually click through all my favorite filters and will just see whatever looks the best. My favorite VSCO filters are: A4, A6, C8, J5 & U3.

7. Afterlight “Dusty” filters:

Have you seen those Instapictures with an awesome vintage look? Try “Dusty” filters from Afterlight & upgrade your Instagame immidiately!

8. Brilliance w/ iPhone:

Iphone’s own little miracle tool! If my picture is too dark or it has too many shadows or in general it’s not clear enough – this is what I use!

I hope you learned something new. I’m still such a rookie when it comes to editing but I’m constantly googling and learning and watching Youtube videos to improve my skills. I suggest you to do the same!

I hope you guys liked it & we will talk again on Thursday because I have another blog post waiting for you!

SUMMERTIME MAKEUP ROUTINE

Sampureminerals4

For several years now I’ve had totally different makeup regimen when it comes to summertime. When it’s 25 degrees outside, I really don’t feel like wearing full coverage foundation with concealer, setting powder, bronzer, blush and highlighter.  T o o   m a n y   p r o d u c t s !

During the summer I mostly use mineral makeup. I wish I would have used it back when I was living in Dubai. My life would have been so much easier. But back then I didn’t really believe in it. It was about 3 years ago, I was in Ibiza and my babe Grisse was using mineral powder foundation & demanded me to try it out aswell. I’m so glad I did!

So, why do I like it? First of all it takes me like 2 minutes to create a radient & even skin and I really don’t feel like wasting a lot of time doing my makeup when I’m for example travelling. Secondly, it has SPF 15 which means I don’t have to apply sunscreen separately. Last but definitely not least – it allows my skin to breathe & look good naturally!

Obviously there are a lot of different brands out there, so I’m going to give you a little heads up about what kind of products I use and how.

Sampuremineral3

My mineral makeup kit is by the brand Sampure Minerals (HERE). It is the first European Halal certified mineral makeup brand created in Great Britain in 2009. They use only the finest quality natural ingredients in their products, no nasty chemicals, no parabens, no animal derivatives and no preservatives. The kit consists of Instant Glow Mineral Foundation, Instant Glow Setting Powder, Instant Glow Mineral Blush and 2 brushes.

Sampuremineral96

MY MAKEUP ROUTINE

1. I start by hydrating my face. Make sure to wait at least 10 minutes before applying the mineral makeup so the moisturizer can settle into your skin properly.

Sampuremineral2

2. Then I apply the star of the show – Sampure Minerals Instant Glow Mineral Foundation (HERE). I am very tanned right now, so my perfect match is “Sand.” They have 7 different shades, so make sure to pick up the right one. If you’re not sure which is suitable for you, just do it like I did – I went to Tradehouse shop in Nautica Keskus to check out the testers.

The brush is the most important tool you will use for applying mineral foundation, so make sure you invest in an excellent quality one. I used Sampure Minerals Mini Kabuki Brush (HERE).

Sampuremineral8

So, I apply the foundation in gentle circular motions on the skin to get a beautiful coverage and repeat it several times all over the face while paying attention to all areas including around the nose and eyes. Keep in mind that little goes a long way! After that I always admire my skin in front of the mirror for a bit because I just can’t seem to get it how easy it is to even out all the redness, dark circles, pigmentations and spots. The product itself is very luxurious & lightweight with no distinctive scent to it. 10/10!

Sampuremineral99

(Left side of my face has Sampure Minerals Instant Glow Mineral Foundation on. Right side is clean.)

3. After creating a beautiful & even canvas it is time to set it. Sampure Minerals Instant Glow Mineral Setting Powder in “Natural” (HERE) helps to smooth away any fine lines and imperfections + keeps everything in place while adding a beautiful velvety matte finish. To be honest, when I’m in a hurry, I tend to skip this step. However, if you have problems with oil control, I think this product will help you to stay matte longer.

4. It is time to give some shape to the face. They do have a bronzer aswell but I like to use Sampure Minerals Crushed mineral eyeshadow in “Heavenly bronze” (HERE) instead. I just love the colour! It is a chocolate brown loose eyeshadow which is not too brown, not too red, not too orange. Perfect for creating that sunkissed look!

5. For a blush I use Sampure Minerals Instant Glow Mineral Blush in “Shimmer’n’ice” (HERE). As the name says, it has some fine shimmer in it, so I don’t even have to apply highlighter because it’s like 2 in 1. It gives such a beautiful radient & glowy flush of colour! But if you are more of a highlighter kinda gal, you should try out their Mineral Setting Powder in “Glow” (HERE). I haven’t tried it myself but I’ve heard good things about it!

Sampuremineral97

6. Eyebrows! Very important step! It is so hard to find a good brow pencil which is suitable for girls with blonde hair. Sampure Minerals Classic Brow Pencil (HERE) runs in 1 colour and I think it’s a better fit for brunettes.

7. Let’s add some drama to the eyes with Sampure Minerals Beautiful Volume & Curl Mascara (HERE)! My eyelashes are long and semi-voluminous I suppose. The problem is (actually ‘was’) that they were stubbornly straight. For years and years my usual mascara routine was like this: curl them, apply 2 coats of mascara, curl them again. And after 1 min they were back to straight again. So frustrating. My solution? Curl your lashes, apply 1 coat of any waterproof mascara, apply another coat of your regular mascara and boom! Try it out & you can thank me later!

Sampuremineral95

8. …and now the lips! Sometimes I go for red or orange but in everyday life I tend to use nude lipsticks more than anything else. I’m using Sampure Minerals Long-lasting Matte Lipstick in “Sandstone” (HERE) which is like a brownish nude colour. I think this shade is very flattering for many different skintones. Lipstick itself is matte like the name says but not drying like some might be.

9. I like to spray some rose water to my face as a final step. I feel like it makes the makeup look even more natural et voilà! I’m done!

Sampuremineral5
Sampuremineral4

If you’ve been wondering whether mineral makeup is worth trying out or not, just go for it. Sampure Get Started Kit (HERE) is a good option for that! Sampure Minerals products are available at www.purecostmetics.ee and Tradehouse shop in Nautica Keskus!

Also with a code “maarjabrenner” you can get 15% OFF on Sampure Minerals products when ordering from purecosmetics.ee & orders over €49 have free shipping!

I hope you guys enjoyed it and talk to you soon! Mwuah! x

TOMMY WITH LOVE

Hey babes!

Where did the summer go? I mean it was beach weather couple of days ago and now I’m wearing coats and warm jackets again.

Chinos have been my go-to pick lately when it comes to pants. I recently started playing golf, so polo shirts and chinos are all I’m buying these days. Please don’t ask me about my HCP. I mean golf is a lot of fun but I still suck at it, haha!

The star of the outfit is definitely the bag! I love-love-love satchel bags! So versatile! It can be carried on your shoulder, crossbody or just in your hand.

Everything is from Tommy Hilfiger and available right now! (except my sneakers)

10 reasons to visit Rotermann City

1. Pagarini – My latest discovery! The reason why I’m so obsessed with this place – their pretzels. MAJOR DROOOL! They put melted butter inside the pretzel. I kid you not, I go there at least twice a week because I just can’t get enough. If you haven’t tried them yet, I beg you to go for it!

Rotermanni10

2. Carmen Cafe – Cute coffee shop! They have a good selection of breakfast options, pastries and I really like the interior (especially on the 1st floor). Also, during summertime they have a terrace right on the street, so you can do some people watching while enjoying your coffee & croissant!

3. Reede – Such an awesome streetwear store! You can find there all the hip & trendy brands such as Vans, Alpha Industries, Dr. Martens, Adidas, Cheap Monday – to name a few. So, if you’re in the market for a new cool bomber jacket or a pair of Dr. Martens boots, make a visit!

Rotermanni11

4. RØST – The easiest way to find that place is by following the smell of cinnamon rolls. You just cannot miss this! It’s a very trendy cafe and for a reason – they have the best cinnamon rolls in town! My favorite sweet treat ever!

Rotermanni12

5. Stradivarius, Bershka – Very popular High Street Fashion stores! I don’t know about you guys but I never leave these stores empty handed. Today I was too busy to try anything on but I will go back to Stradivarius tomorrow to try on those chinos that I spotted! They have such a variety of colours & patterns to choose from!

Rotermanni15

6. Juustukuningad – You know that meme: “It has too much cheese on it! Said noone. EVER.” I can relate to that! This place definitely has the best selection of Dutch cheeses. My favorite is Le Petit Doruvael with truffels. Also I suggest you to try out their own mustard sauce with dill & honey, yum!

Rotermanni7

7. Tallinn Design House – If local design is something that you are interested in, this is THE place to visit! They have such a nice variety of Estonian fashion, cosmetics, furnishing and other bits & pieces!

Rotermanni13

8. Flamm – Very cozy wine bar with a selection of flatbreads! I usually go there to catch up with a friend over a glass of wine. It is perfect for that!

9. Pull – I’ve been there for dinner about 5-6 times and I have ZERO regrets! It is very busy, specially on weekends. So make sure to book a table. As it is created and owned by famous Estonian grill masters, be ready to enjoy one of the best BBQ experiences!

Rotermanni9

10. Instagram friendly – I think it is fair to say that Rotermann City is one of the most instagrammable areas in Tallinn. Being a blogger/influencer I have to fabricate new shooting spots all the time and Rotermann City is like a safety net – whenever I’m in a hurry or if I’m just out of ideas, this is the place where I end up!
